"What Product do I Sell Online?"
This is where things get interesting!
You can sell anything on the internet if you want to - cars, boats, houses, DVD's, jewelry, online courses, businesses, holidays etc.
Just name it and you can sell it online!
As interesting as this is it can also be a little scary, I mean there are so many things to sell that you can become scared that you will choose the wrong product and just give up - Sometimes too much choice is a bad thing!
If you own your own product and you want to sell it online - Great! - all you need to learn is how to market it. But if you are not sure what to sell or don't have the time or resources to develop a product of your own, don't worry! There are many people like you and this is where Affiliate marketing comes into it's own.
Your first decision must be whether to sell a real tangible product like a car or jewelry or a product like a course or software that can be sold electronically.

TIP
No matter What you finally decide to sell it should be something that you have a passion for and know about.
I recently came across a website about earthworms!
Now that is a product I would never have thought there was a market for.
But a quick check on Google turned up over 1 million pages about earthworms, many of which were from people selling them!!!
Whatever your passion you can make a business out of it! |
Tangible Products
These are sometimes referred to as hard goods and can be anything from musical instruments to cars to cellphones etc. - anything in fact that you can touch and feel.
This type of business is often characterised by the necessity of purchasing stock, then shipping it to a customer as well as handling any refunds. Much like having your own store on the high street in fact.
This can be expensive to set up and run, until you get regular orders the carrying costs can be quite high, but it is still a popular way of doing business online. An alternative to carrying your own stock is called Drop shipping.
Drop Ship

Instead of carrying your own products you make contact with a "drop shipper", this is usually a manufacturer who stocks the products and will ship them for you once you have sold them.
You advertise the goods and find a customer, the customer pays you directly, then you forward all the

WARNING
There are many so called drop ship 'agents' who want nothing more that to get their grubby little hands on your money!
Do be careful who you sign up with.
I recommend you take a look at
The Drop Ship Directory
to find a reputable supplier. | customers details to the manufacturer (shipping address, goods required etc.) who will in return forward the goods to the customer and invoice you for the wholesale cost of the goods.
The wholesaler handles all aspects of the merchandise ie carrying stock, branding it with your name (where applicable) shipping and customer returns.
You will probably not get as high a discount on the goods as you would if you were to buy them and store/ship them yourself.
But what it does mean though, is that there is less captial investment and no need for you to carry a warehouse full of goods you cannot sell!
I have a friend who makes good money selling musical instuments on eBay. The instruments are branded with his name, manufactured in, and shipped from China.
He only has to advertise, find a customer, collect the money then contact the manufacturer and organise shipping - A simple low cost business that anyone with a knowledge of musical instuments can do and you don't even need a website, eBay takes care of that!
