"I keep talking about contacting your mailing list, but do you have the time to send out 100, 500, 5000 or more emails to your online subscribers?..."
Nah, you're too busy going online to check your bank account to email your Ad to all 5000, or maybe you're playing with the kids or are out shopping.......
(What? - You couldn't be working on that new Ad or update for your web page could you?)
.....That's why you need an Autoresponder.
Seriously though, you can't possibly keep track of all the additions to, or removals from your list and write an Ad

TIP
To get the most from the Internet you need the services of a Webhost to put your website online for all to see.
Unfortunately all Webhosts are not created equal, so be careful who you choose for this critical job!
You need the services of a professional Webhost. Someone who will work with you and supply you with more FREE tools than you've ever dreamed of!
Plus, plus, plus.................... (the list is too long to copy here)
AND they pay you to host your Website at the same time!
Don't fall into the trap of using the cheapest webhost you can find. Someone who won't be able to supply you with all the tools you need to really make an impact online!
It's your business, your livelihood, make sure you choose the perfect partner! | and update your website and, and...... Once you get over 50 to 100 names on your list the manual work involved in maintaining it is just too much to keep up with. You simply have to have an autoresponder.
Your email client can handle about 100 simultaneous mailings but it won't add people or remove them from a list, furthermore your ISP would probably get a little twitchy if he saw you sendind an Ad to thousands from your account.
So what can you do?
Well there are some wonderful software tools that are designed to handle this chore for you.
They are called Autoresponders and what they do is send out your preprogrammed message or sequence of messages at a predetermined interval.
You can use an autoresponder to send a message or Ad to all subscribers on your list, or maybe you need to contact selected recipients, say from a city or sate to let them know of a meeting you will be hosting in their area.
If using an online autoresponder you only have to stay online for as long as it takes to set it up. Once this is done you can simply log off and leave it to run 24 hours a day.
An autoresponder can send your Ad to your list in any sequence you like, simply set up your choices and let the autoresponder work it's magic!
They automatically update your mailing list when someone joins or requests to be removed, and inform you of these changes. You can also add addresses manualy while some autoresponders allow you to import a list of a thousand or more purchased addresses in one go.
Just think how tedious and time consuming this would be if you had to add the names yourself manually!
This really is a useful facility as it allows you to import a purchased list from a reputable supplier, the key word here is reputable! If your autoresponder service recieves any spam complaints about you he is liable to terminate your account immediately, only contactitng you after this has been done.

Warning
Even the most carefully collected list can contain a member who decides to report you for spamming, either out of sheer vindictiveness or because they forgot that they agreed to receive your emails.
This is why it's so important to use the double opt in method of list management and an autoresponder service that automatically collects the IP address of the subscriber.
Armed with this information you can respond to any spam complaints secure in the knowledge that you can prove the date and time that the subscriber agreed to receive your emails. |
Online or Home Based Autoresponders?
Once you start looking at auto responders you'll soon find that there are a multitude of choices, with options ranging from online to Homebased models.
You can sign up online for a free autoresponder service, which is great to get your business up and running. But, you may find this to be a little bit restrictive in use later on, free autoresponders do tend to have rather limited facilities.
There are paid upgrade options, however, which do address this
The Power of Autoresponders
Imagine running an Ad.
Today you have 3 prospects reply, you send them your first sales letter.
Tomorrow 6 more reply, you send them your first sales letter and the first 3, your second sales letter, 1 person from day 1 wants to be removed, you do that as well.
Two days later 10 more reply, you send them your first letter, the previous 6 you send your second letter, the first 3 your third letter. Two people from day 2 want to be removed, one from day one also wants to be removed - more work, don't forget!
A day later 5 more reply, 3 from day 3 want to be removed, 2 from day 2 .....
A day later another 14 reply, 1 from day 4 wants to be removed, 1 from.....
Hang on, Hang on! It's getting too darned complicated! Who's had what and when and how many want to be removed......?!
This is where the power of an autoresponder comes into it's own.
You set the parameters and leave the responder to do it's work AUTOMATICALLY. | problem and allow you to utilise this resource for free. You only need to start paying once you are really making money online, need more flexibillity and can easily afford to pay for more services!
Some webhosting companies offer free autoresponders as part of their package and it is well worth looking into this option before you make a final decision about either a webhost or autoresponder service.
However when your business starts to get moving you will probably find that you need more than one autoresponder and a great deal more more flexibility from it too.
You are not restricted to choosing an online autoresponder service either, there many 'offline' ones which are designed to be installed and run from your own computer.
A big advantage of a home based autoresponder over an online one is that all email addresses are stored in your own pc rather than on somebody elses online server.
This can be a useful facility as some autoresponder companies have been known to hold you to ransom for your mailing list names and addresses in cases of dispute!
A perceived disadvantage of a homebased autoresponder is that the initial purchase cost is relatively high. However, once purchased there is no further outlay for your pc based autoresponder.
If you compare this to the monthly outlay for an online service you will see that over the course of a year your home based purchase works out much cheaper.
Your homebased autoresponder doesn't need to be online 24hours a day to work, it will dial up and connect to the Internet whenever it is scheduled to send emails.
